August 2, 2001 - Boonville Youth Complex - In a winners bracket contest, Adrean Post 625 defeated Brockville of Canada by a score of 14-6 sending Adrean into a winners bracket game tomorrow evening in Boonville against Utica Post 229. Utica defeated Whitestown Post 2-1 this evening in the second bracket of the winners bracket game.

Adrean struck for 4 runs in the 2nd inning when Andy Wengert led off with a walk followed by a drag bunt single by Sal LiCari to put men on 1st and 2nd.. Brockville pitcher Derek Swank then struck out Frank Arcuri but then gave up a 2 run double to Bill Demma. Dan Maycock then doubled in Demma and eventually scored on Nick Galiulo' s base hit to left field. Swank then got Chrisa Darling to ground out to 3rd for the 3rd out.Tonight Adrean was lead by the hitting of Bill Demma. Demma went 3 for 4 with 4 RBI's. He had a single double and a 2 run Home Run in the 4th inning. Winning pitcher Andy Wengert also went 2 for 4, scored 4 runs with 2 doubles

Brockville scored a run in the bottom of the 2nd when Dan Keleman lead off with a single and advanced to 2nd on an error by 1st baseman Dan Maycock . Wengert got Nathan McLauren to fly out to left field for a Sacrific fly to score Keleman for Brockville 1st run. Wengert then settled down to retire the sides

Adrean continued it's assult on Brockville pitcher Swank in the 3rd when Matt Devins led off the inning with a double to the left field wall. Devins advanced on a wild pitch and scored on a dropped pop up by first baseman Mike McCann. Swank then struck out Sal LiCari looking for the 1st out but then gave up base hit to frank Arcuri who plated Wengert. Bill Demma then singled and Dan Maycock walked to load the bases. Swank then beaned Chris Parkinsion to plate another run for Adrean, their 3rd of the inning. Swank then retired Galuilo on a fielders choice and stuck out Chris Darling for the 3rd outAderan scored again in the 3rd on hits by Wengert Arcuri and a 2 run Home Run by Bill Demma.

In the 5th Brockville made their most serios threat to get back into the game whenwith 1 out Wengert hit Jeff Keleman to put a man on 1st. Chris McKinnon then hit what should have been a routine ground ball double play to Chris Parkinson who couldn't hang on to the ball to put men on 1st and 2nd with 1 out, Josh Craig then singled to left center to score Kelemen, followed by a single by Justin McFarlane to drive in McKinnon and Craig. Wengert then settled in to a 6-4 force for the 2nd out and struck out Adam Broek to end the threat.

Adrean then struck again for 1 run in the 6th and 3 in the 7th to put the game out of reach.

August 1, 2001 - BOONVILLE - ADREAN 10 RUN RULES PULASKI 14-3. Adrean Post's Chris Darling pitched and hit AP to a opening round victory over Pulaski Post in the District 5 American Legion Playoffs.

Darling scattered 4 hits over 4 2/3 innings pitched and was 5 for 5 at the plate. Darling had 3 doubles, 1 single and a solo homerun as well as 4 rbi's and 4 runs scored for Adrean. Adrean is looking to defend there District 5 championship. The team that wins this tournament gets a bid to the New York State American Legion tournament being held in Binghamton next week.

Other offensive stars for AP were, Frank Arcuri 3 hits, 3 runs scored.

AJ Oblak 2 hits, 2 rbi's, and Andy Wengert 2 hits, 3 rbi's and 2 runs scored. Kevin McCormick pitched 1 1/3 innings in relief for Adrean. Adrean plays Brockville, Ontario Canada in a winners bracket game Thursday at 4:30 in Boonville.
