Adrean
Post 625 History
The
names are to many too mention, but they start with people
like Larry Tozzi, Don Romanelli, and Ray
Majka, and will begin this new millennium with names
like Roberts, Devins, Krol and Darling
to mention a few. In between those 50 years are
young men that have played the game for the simple joy
of competing and those with dreams to play at the highest
level.
Adrean Post, along with Smith Post, Whitestown
Post, Boonville Post, and Clinton Post,
have given the Mohawk Valley the beginning of one
of the finest amateur youth programs in our area. American
Legion baseball has always been a step above high school
baseball and always will be. The level of competition
and the goal at the end of the season, to be crowned World
Champs, is what separates Legion baseball from all the
other baseball programs in the Mohawk Valley, except Little
league.
Adrean
has always been a program loaded with tradition. From
the 1966 New York State Champions comprised of
players like Vic Diodato, Bill Lenuzza,
Sal Rizzo, Brian Williams and Fred Karam
to the 1972 team loaded with soon to be major leaguer
Jim Wessinger, Terry Daniels, Joe Raffule,
Mark Welch, Steve Bankit and Steve Fondario,
to the 1982 Northeast Regional Runners Up with
talented players like Elliott Rivera, Herm Rivera,
Pat Leone, Frank Martello, Rob Wuest,
Dave Ferrone, Ed Dubiel, Frank Courto
and some guy named Lemke; Adrean has been a competitor
at every level.
Like our bitter but respected rivals to the Northwest
Smith Post, the true test of any program is the
ability to repeat as champions both on and off the field.
To represent our area against larger cities and be victorious
is Adreans' Hallmark. More importantly, gaining the respect
from our competitors and being sought out to compete with
those teams countrywide is a great honor for our players
and for our Post.
Adrean
looks forward to every year with great hopes and hard
work in order to continue this great tradition.
Hey,
lets play two!
