So
don't get all worked up that this is what everyone
at Adrean thinks...proceed!
Forget
about CBS's Survivor !!!
Adrean
Post may just actually be the last one standing on
the island when these Oneida County Playoffs conclude.
After dropping a tough 5 - 3 decision to Whitestown
Post on friday night, AP had its work cut out for
themselves as they were matched up with the hottest
team in the playoffs, Utica Post. The winner of this
game would move into the championship round to face
Wtown.
After
trailing for most of the game, Andy Wenget hit a dramatic
home run to tie the game at 7 in the bottom of the
7th. AP then loaded the bases with two outs only to
have the rally stopped with a lazy fly ball to center.
Oops I dropped it! Utica Post CF dropped the final
out and the winning run scores from third base. AP
in a stunner!
Championship
round. AP vs Wtown. Wtown heavily favored. As the
game starts, Wtown is relaxed and cocky. And they
back this up when Engelhart blasts a 3 run first inning
home run for a 3 - 0 lead. No looking back from here
for Wtown. Not so fast though. AP drops an 8 spot
on them in the bottom of the first and they dont look
back as they romped Wtown 17-9. Frank Arcuri made
his first start of the season for AP. Arcuri had missed
most of the season due to illness. It was hoped that
he would be a major part of the rotation for AP. Arcuri
worked into the 4th for AP only to suffer another
setback when he took a line drive off of the leg and
was removed. The Jungle has learned that Arcuri will
not play in monday nights final game.
Coach
Mike Macchione stated that "it was pretty swollen
and it only makes sense to keep Frank out of the lineup
and ready him for District's." Macchione will go with
AJ Oblak or Dan Cornmire on Monday night vs Wtown.
So...the
County title comes down to Monday night. Do or die
for one team right? Wrong. This year three teams will
move on to District play from Oneida County. Puh-leaze,
three teams? Is this AYSO soccer? Does everyone get
a trophy as well?
The Districts shape up like this with the following
8 teams qualified: AP, Utica, Wtown, Lowville Post,
Brockville, Watertown and Fabius-Pompeii. The eigth
team will be Ilion Post. Coach Eric Moreau has done
a great job with that program after himself having
a great playing career at Ilion, Mohawk Valley CC
and Utica College. Look for his team to be well prepared
and challenge AP for the title.
Oh
yeah, a prediction for Monday night's County title
game..Like it matters! In a battle of the offenses,
AP wins it by a field goal... 17-14. Wtown fumbles
at the end of the game on their own 45 yard line...
Tune
