So
don't get all worked up that this is what everyone
at Adrean thinks...proceed!
Kissing
your sister!!!
So,
Whitestown Post has defeated AP to win the Oneida
County American Legion title. What does this all mean
for W'town. It means that they get to play at 10:00a.m.
Wednesday in the first round of the District V playoffs
to be held at Murnane Field. While AP now sets its
sights on the Bunnies of Brockville at 7:30p.m. Wednesday
night. What an advantage W'town has gained by winning
the County. They get to get up at 6:30a.m., and ready
themselves for an early morning game with an expected
capacity crowd of 13.
It
almost made more sense to lose Monday night's title
game. But W'town had no intention of doing that as
they came out and completely dominated AP 9-2... AP
was never in this one and it showed from the start.
Coach Macchione sent out some youngsters to the hill
in the hopes that they would gain some tough experience.
It may pay off however, as Macchione may need these
youngsters in a District V playoff that once again
is double elimination.
So
winning the County is like kissing your sister. You
still have to go out and battle through a tough 8
team double elimination tournament. W'town and AP
have shown some signs of playing quality baseball
throughout the County playoffs. But too often have
they often showed the flip side of that.
I am looking for defending champion Brockville to
stay strong in this tournament. They are usually comprised
of 17 and 18 year olds and there coaches do a great
job of preparing them for big games. Also look for
Ilion Post to make some noise. Head Coach Eric Moreau
has done a tremendous job with that program and usually
has his squad playing their best ball at the right
time. If and only if AP can stay composed for 7 innings
each time out they can win this thing. Any type of
mental breakdown even for one inning and they are
done. But....they have the talent, they are prepared
and they have players like Roberts, Devins and Wengert
who have been in pressure situations and need to lead
the others to the promised land.
It
should be another exciting week for all involved.
Whatever does happen, the Jungle will be here to give
you my takes and predictions. Again, all feedback
whether positive or negative, as well as your takes
on anything are welcome. Email to dellafaved@aol.com.
A
side note: Former AP player Russ Morgan has recently
come off of the disabled list for the Seattle Mariners
A ball team in Peoria, Arizona. The Jungle has learned
that Morgan is throwing better than ever and should
make some noise. His velocity and confidence are at
a all time high. Look for him to make some great strides
with that organization.
