History
Repeats Itself !!?
Adrean
Post has had a storied history when it comes to
playoff battles with it's city rival, Utica Post.
But this year has seen some things that I am sure
have never happened in the past. First example,
Utica and Adrean battled numerous times this season
with Post #229 emerging victorious in all but one
of the contests. Secondly, a sure caught end of
the inning fly ball, mysteriously dropped as Adrean
scores the winning run to advance to the County
Championship Round.
And
then the final straw...While sitting in the bleachers
at Murnane field, a player for Utica Post who had
left his team to pursue other interests during the
season, all of a sudden is pinch hitting in an elimination
game. To top this, this same player then comes out
and defeats AP to force a winner take all battle
for the right to advance to the New York State Championship
tournament.
But don't worry AP fans, the 625'ers had the last
laugh. AP came out from the start behind the strong
pitching of Andy Wengert and outlasted Utica for
the District V championship. Many thought that this
tournament should have never gotten to this point.
Many thought that Utica made a mockery of the game
by letting this player jump from the bleachers to
the game. But all for naught for Utica Post, as
in the end the better team had won the game.
So
Adrean has advanced to the State Championship tournament
to be played this year in Newburgh, NY. No, it is
not Doubleday field. No, it is not just 4 teams
like in the past. But this is the finals. This is
where heroes are made. This is where there are no
tomorrow's.
So
what has The Jungle learned up to this point from
the countless battles that have taken place since
the County playoffs began and the District playoffs
ended:
1.
No matter how you cut it, it all comes down to
the team that is the most prepared who lives to
play another day.
2.
You can run your mouth all your want, but in the
end you have to perform.
3.
When in doubt, go with your best. Coach Macchione
using Wengert on short rest was his key to victory.
4.
If you are sitting in the bleachers watching a
game, make sure you have your glove and bat, as
you never know when you will be called upon to
pinch hit.
5.
And finally, when all the teams have fallen by
the wayside, The Jungle remains standing...

Note:
A quick memo to any parent who has ever shouted
at an umpire, coach, opposing parent or let alone
physically assaulted anyone. Get a life. Just because
you weren't good enough or your athletic career
didn't turn out the way you wanted it to, doesn't
mean you need to ruin it for your kid and everyone
else's. Here's another news flash. Your kid is not
going to be a professional athlete either. So instead
of trying to secure your retirement through his
or her first contract, you're better off rededicating
yourself to your own career. End of story!!!!!!
