John Autry Affectionately known to the players and staff, as "Cowboy" John was the most pleasant surprise of our season. John was a late pick that played a huge part in our getting to the State finals. John not only plugged a huge hole in the middle of the season when Adrean lost it’s second baseman Kevin Roberts to injury, but Cowboy contributed mightily with clutch base hits when the game was on the line. John shows a lot of promise with respect to playing anywhere in the infield and thus giving the staff confidence in his ability to contribute to a second run at the state title. John needs to stay in the weight room this off-season to help him drive the ball better this upcoming season. He’s a good contact hitter that needs to put on some weight and muscle to become a real true college prospect. He has excellent hands and a strong arm across the infield and will continue to improve. We really have a quality infielder and all around player with Cowboy in 2001.
