Coaches Comments: Not only did Chris play a large role in helping his high school team to win the State Championship, but his role for a complete summer season with AP was very important. Normally a catcher, Chris was brought up to the varsity to fill that role late in the season but suffered a shoulder injury as soon as he arrived. That left Chris the DH role to fill as a freshman. He did a great job in that position and contributed to the success of the team in attaining the State Championship.
At AP, we needed to find a slot for Chris that would allow him to play early with the shoulder injury and yet take advantage of his bat productivity. We slotted him at second and he never looked back from there. For better than 3/4 of the season, Chris hit around .410 to .435. In those numbers were many clutch hits and timely results. His play at second base was far below that of departing secondbaseman Kevin Roberts, but he played every game hard both offensively and defensively. He showed a tremendous amount of poise for a 15 year old "rook".
This year Chris will battle for the catchers position and continue to be used wherever he can help the team to win.
